Angel Park 

This little hill at Angel Park in Alexandria is perfect for beginners and those testing out their sledding saucers for the first time. West Taylor Run Pkwy., Alexandria 


Algonkian Elementary School 

Going to school on a snow day seems wrong, but you won’t regret it. Make your way past the school and baseball fields to find the sledding hill. 20196 Carter Ct., Sterling 


George M. Hampton Middle School

When school’s out, it’s time for sledding. Head back by the fields for a steep hill that flattens out the closer you get to the field. 14800 Darbydale Ave., Woodbridge


Franklin Park 

The 203-acre park is full of rolling hills perfect for winter weather. Scope out the park before the snow starts to stick to find your ideal hill. 17501 Franklin Park Dr., Purcellville 


Jefferson Manor Park 

You don’t have to trek through the snow to enjoy some winter fun at this park. The hill is right across from the parking lot. 2909 Farmington Dr., Alexandria 


Lake Fairfax Park 

This park that is full of family fun in summer is great for winter activities, too. If you’re looking for the best spot to zoom down the hill, check out the area behind the restrooms near the picnic tables. 1400 Lake Fairfax Dr., Reston 


Mason District Park 

In the past, the experts at Fairfax County Parks Authority have named this park the best in Fairfax County for sledding. 6621 Columbia Pk., Annandale 


Occoquan Regional Park

While this park is known for its access to the river, it also is home to a hidden hill that’s perfect for sledding. Head past the boat ramps and you’ll find a hill that leads to the soccer and baseball fields. Make sure the park is open before your trip. 9751 Ox Rd., Lorton


Signal Hill Park 

If the park has “hill” in the name, it has to be a great spot for sledding. The park has plenty of space for snowball fights, snowmen, and snow angels. 9300 Signal View Dr., Manassas 


Stone House in Manassas National Battlefield 

Situated behind the historic building is a massive hill that is frequented by sledding enthusiasts each winter. 12521 Lee Hwy., Manassas 


Trench Hill 

For speed, thrills, and maybe a little air, grab your sled and head to Fredericksburg. The steep hill is wide enough to create multiple sledding lanes, so the wait for snowy fun can be held to a minimum. Sunken Rd., Fredericksburg 


Tuckahoe Park 

The hill that lines North Sycamore Street is where you’ll find the sledders in Arlington. 2400 N. Sycamore St., Arlington 


Windmill Hill Park

Get picturesque photos of your kids enjoying the snow. The quaint hill is perfect for little ones (and is great for those who hate the long walk back to the top). 501 S. Union St., Alexandria 



Wolf Trap

You’ve been to Wolf Trap for a show, but what about a sledding session? Make your way toward Meadow Trail for a long hill that’s sure to be covered in untouched snow. 1551 Trap Rd., Vienna
